Sunrise and Sundown, or The Radiant Sun and In The Afterglow
The Radiant Sun and In The Afterglow are original fiction based off various TTRPG stories played by the author, Angel. That's me! Hi! I named myself after one of the characters in In The Afterglow, actually. Between the two, we've got all different kinds of light as a theme, so the website for the stories is called Sunrise and Sundown, because it's a nice little play on aesthetic.
And now, for the details...
The Radiant Sun
The Radiant Sun is a story based on a Dungeons and Dragons homebrew campaign set in the kingdom of Toris, which has seen more than its fair share of complications and strife throughout its existence. The story centers around a group of seven people (six, but only for a couple of chapters) and the friends and families they connect with during their journey to save the world. And they're going to need all the help they can get, because they have not one, not two, but three apocalypses to prevent. They join forces for a seemingly simple mission - find one of the princesses, who has recently gone missing - but quickly find out there are much scarier threats in the world than whatever might have kidnapped her. The party is comprised of the following members:
- Aiyise Novias, cleric to the Elf-Father and nervous wreck of a teenage adventurer
- Alixa Vyazen, Lady of Knives, Tamer of Lizards, Slayer of Evils, chaotic fifteen-year-old
- Avaciel Splendor, bard who has more stories to tell than she's ready to
- Kyria Satra princess of House Satra, sorcerer with divine magic in her veins
- Razor, surname-less pseudodevil with blazing fire magic and a personality to match
- Shade Castlekeep, strangely powerful being with mysterious ties to even more powerful ones
- Verona Summerstep, Razor's lifelong companion who found it in herself to save him, and eventually the world
And of course, the friends they make along the way, including but not limited to the entire royal family, several animal companions, the rest of Aiyise's polycule, an assortment of strays, and... gods?

In The Afterglow
In The Afterglow is a story based on an AU of a different Dungeons and Dragons homebrew game, in a different setting, with a different cast of characters. In a fascinating turn of events, there is actually a character that appears in both (technically two!), albeit with different names, roles, and lots of other stuff (and of course they don't know each other). It's a story about a teenage girl named Angel who starts the story having just moved to San Antonio, Texas as a result of her father's job needing him to relocate. The story centers around her and the band she joins - Afterglow - who slowly (and eventually not so slowly) rise to worldwide fame. They do not do this without a considerable degree of effort, nor without serious struggles and traumatic experiences, but they do it nonetheless. The central characters in the band are as follows:
- Angela "Angel" Novinger, one of the singers as well as the keyboardist, the first member added after the original three band members started working together under a different name. She is the softness that the band needed - even when your style leans punk rock and metal, you need someone there to temper the steel.
- Cirque, stage name CIRQUE in all caps, added to the band after Angel in a move by the label, exists to sing alongside Angel and look punker than she does. She has a cryptic backstory and talks a lot about herself without truly saying much - but she finds a real home with the rest of the band.
- Corran "Cor" Deveaux, vocalist and guitarist who sings, screams, and raps, plus writing nearly all lyrics. He has opinions and he makes them everyone else's problem - the world needs to hear what he has to say.
- Dumitra Myers/Van Roy, drummer, comes out as a trans woman fairly early in the story but frankly I refuse to deadname her in her character description. More than anything she needs an escape from the hell she puts up with at home - and how better to drown out the bullshit than with a drum kit?
- Gwyneth "Gwyn" Reddick, bassist whose family took Cor in when he needed to get away from his home life. Genderweird and proud of it - their identity is important to her, and by opening his home to Cor (and eventually several other band members) it opens the door for xyr future alongside the others.
The journey from rags to riches, from bar stage to world tour, is a long one, and fraught with difficulty. But if anyone can weather the storm, it would be Afterglow.
